Do not get frustrated if you feel you missed a great opportunity. Instead, try to learn from this situation and be ready when next opportunity will come. After all, there will be always a new one coming.  You can see that approach in below quote from Richard Branson.

Few words about the quote’s author…

Richard Branson has entrepreneurial drive since a young age. When he was sixteen he set up his first business venture, a magazine called Student. Over course of the years, he continued with a number of different enterprises including a chain of record stores, trains, mobiles, airlines, space tourism. Nowadays Virgin Group he founded controls more than 400 companies. Richard’s net worth is estimated at $4,9 billion, which shows how successful businessman he is.

But, it is not only about the money. Richard is also very well-known from his non-profit initiatives. One of the examples can be ‘Virgin Startup’. It is a platform that supports British startups via loan program. It aims at entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 30 UK-wide. A pilot of the scheme, which ran over 11 months, injected £600,000 into 100 businesses.

F1 Story

Branson is also passionate about the sports. In 2010 he established his own Formula One racing team called Virgin Racing. At the same time, he bet with Tony Fernandes, owner of Air Asia and Lotus F1 Racing. The subject of the bet was the 2010 F1 season results. A person who will lose had to work on the winner’s airline during a charity flight dressed as a stewardess. In fact, Richard Branson lost and served his duty as a stewardess on an Air Asia flight between Perth and Kuala Lumpur on 12 May 2013. Quite a brave move for a billionaire.

Enemy of ties

Informal dress code is another interesting characteristic of Richard Branson. He is a huge fan of casual clothing both at home and at the workplace. Although it seems to be more popular approach nowadays, three decades ago is was a unique idea. He says, “I have been carrying out a lifelong campaign to say bye to the tie. I often carry a pair of scissors with me, ready to cut off the tie of any unsuspecting wearer. I even have a cushion on Necker Island made up of some of my victims! I remain convinced that ties only exist because managers, after spending years being forced to wear ties by their bosses, decide to force the next generation to do the same. They subtly encourage conformity. Most people in business dress the same and that contributes to them acting the same. Wearing a tie really can restrict new ideas and innovative thoughts – not to mention breath!”
